What happens to land nobody bids on

Not every parcel sells at the auction. When nobody bids, the land usually goes to the county or the state, and it can often be bought later — sometimes for less, and without the crowd.

How that works depends on the state: in Texas the county can resell it; in Arkansas, unsold parcels move to the Commissioner of State Lands' auction site, where a first bid starts a 30-day auction.

landrush marks these as unsold tax-sale properties, and each listing says how it is bought.
